Forgiveness is the renewal of love
For it stills the crying of the dove
And heals the most divided heart
Cheerlessly shared by lovers torn apart.
Hope lies beyond the end of a rope
Lassoing the stars to kindle new hope
Lost cruelly by the death of blue sky
To the murder of crows in flight on high.
A love lost is a lesson sorely learnt
That feeling without fire is surely burnt
To a dark crisp of crumbled affection
Carried off by the winds of dejection.
Self-esteem is the methanol breeze
Raising men up off their sullied knees
To stand tall and take in the fresh air
Scented by the roses of a life often fair.
